Yum Saap Bangkok

Sorry for the overdue post. Share with you guys a nice and cheap eating place in Bangkok that I went recently.

This small restaurant was located at a corner of MBK, level 5 near to a escalator. Is pretty packed with not many seats and an open kitchen concept. Looking through their menu, prices are pretty affordable, set menu with drinks cost from 79 baht onwards if I am not wrong which is about $3.50SG only.

We ordered soft shell crab salad, pad thai and a set of mixed seafood with white rice that comes with a bowl of soup.

Salad was very appetizing, sour, sweet and a little spicy and crunchy and not oily even it was deep fried, simply love thai style salad.

Pad Thai was like our local char kway tiao but thai style lol The noodle was very Q, not oily and portion was just nice for me to finish all of it, yummlicious

As for the mixed seafood with rice I have no comment on it as it was ordered by my friend. Total bill estimate $450baht for both of us with drinks, pretty affordable right?

Honeymoon Dessert @ 313

Came here to rest our tired legs and ordered some delicious dessert.

I ordered Durian and Thai Glutinous Rice in Coconut soup, is a great combination I love the creamy durian paste and the black glutinous rice thou abit bland for the rice but both goes well with the soup. Makes me craving for one now :P

The dumpling is top with grated coconut, it is so soft and chewy. Love this too

Ho Chi Minh Trip part 2 Tram Chim

Had no idea if this place is called Tram Chim but is located in BT night market and is pretty obvious because it is very packed during dinner time and you can see people are waiting outside for seats.

Food are quite nice but too bad hygiene wise is can be quite bad. Found a long strand of hair in the Seafood Fried Noodle and a flies in our Seafood Fried Rice. Estimate total bill is around $40sg, their menu are quite cute because they use animals picture to indicate the dish.

The place
I like their spring roll, soft, chewy and nice

Garlic LaLa is very fragrant and nice I love anything with garlic. The Prawn in Coconut shell is very special, this is the first time I came across lol pardon for been a noob. Prawn is very fresh and sweet and no charred smell. The waiter peel the prawn for us and put it back into the shell.

Ho Chi Minh Trip part 1 Nem Hoa Phuong restaurant

Went HCM last year during New Year and recently got held up by my study, busy preparing for test and exam. Sigh... lolx

This restaurant I think is called Nem Hoa Phuong is directly opposite the hotel we staying called Blue Diamond Hotel located at 48 Thu Khoa Huan, Bến Thành, Ho Chi Minh City  Prey Nokor, Vietnam. I had no idea what's the restaurant address because I can't read Vietnamese words lolx

We were super hungry after checking in so we just hop in to have our lunch. Ordered 2 soup noodle, fried rice and their local delights, Popiah.

Total bill come up to $40sg including drinks which I find it very expensive, not really worth it.

Address of the restaurant

Soak garlic, I love garlic this is nice it taste a little sour a little spicy :P

Dripping coffee, a not to miss in Vietnam

Pork noodle soup, the soup look spicy but is not. The soup is very tasty, not oily and the noodle is very smooth which is very different from SG.

Pekin Restaurant 北京海鲜楼(圣淘沙)

Had a family dinner here over the Christmas holiday. This restaurant is quite well known in Johor area and this particular one we went to is next to a Ah Koong Noodle Restaurant. I guess driving here will be a little difficult if you don't know JB road well.

I didn't manage to take a look at their menu because all dishes are ordered by my brother. He came here often so I guess he knows what's nice here. He ordered Peking Duck, Herbal Chicken, Fried Rice, Fried Dong Fen (cellophane noodles), Hongkong Noodle, Cereal Prawn, Braised Pork Trotters and Red Bean Pancake.

Total bill come up to $315RM for 13 pax which is very worth it, food is nice and is definitely worth the return.

Both the Fried noodle is nice, is not oily and not too dry but kinda of too soft for my liking lox
Bottom left: Peking Duck - It don't look like Peking Duck to me because there is no wraps for us to go with it, anyway this whole duck is very tender and best of all is not dry and it is really cheap. I think the whole duck cost less than 50 RM and my sister husband almost wanted to pack one back to SG lolx
Bottom right: Herbal Chicken in foil - The sauce contains a little alcohol so I can't take much of this and is a little too salty but the chicken is very soft and tender and is a little too small to serve 13 pax lolx

Top left: Cereal Prawn - Cereal is fragrant and nice but prawn is dry and hard, what a pity
Bottom: Mixed vegetable - I think is french bean with brinjal, the vegetable is very fresh and the fried garlic make the whole dish very fragrant and nice
Top right: Braised Pork Trotters - Juicy, soft and the fats is so smooth and tender. If you don't mind the extra calories you got to try this dish
Bottom: Red Bean Pancake - I ate 4 pieces of this, is not so sweet is soft with slight crispness, so yummy lolx

Bao Gong XO Fish Head Bee Hoon

My brother recommend us to this place to tried out their famous XO Fish Head Bee Hoon but too bad for me as I am allergy to alcohol so I just took a tiny sip. The milky soup is  overwhelmed by the strong XO taste but it doesn't taste bitter but sweet. I took the sliced fish meat bee hoon without the XO, loved the milky soup which has nice fragrant smell of sesame oil and a touch of hua tiao jiu (chinese cooking wine). Instead of thinly sliced fish meat in the bee hoon they served chunk of fried fish meat. The fish is very fresh with no stinky fishy smell at all. But somehow I feel quite thirsty after drinking the soup.

We also ordered some side dish to go along, ngoh hiang (prawn roll), prawn paste chicken and cereal brinjal. Ngoh Hiang skin is slight crispy and goes well with the sweet sauce, Prawn paste chicken has always been my favourite but for this I find the prawn paste is not strong and fragrant enough. Cereal Brinjal? This is my first time tasting it and I am a person who don't fancy brinjal, I find it yucky
But this dish really suprise me, it taste like cereal prawn just that it was replace by brinjal and best of all the taste of brinjal is very light and crispy

Total bill comes up to $52, worth to come back again.

Shun Fa Bak Kut Teh @ Permas Jaya JB

Had my favourite herbal bak kut teh over the weekend at Permas Jaya JB. I miss their bak kut teh and when I wanted to blog on this, I realise they have another outlet at Taman Sentosa as well. Heard from one of my collegue their ba kut teh are quite famous in JB.

Their menu is written very big on a board mount on the wall. When the guy came and take our order we asked for his suggestion and he also asked if we wanted additional ingredients like pig intestine, golden mushroom etc... We also ordered their sesame chicken which is served in a claypot to tried out. One thing to take note, remember to ordered their ginseng drink which is their specialist here. I get to know after seeing alot of people ordering it and it taste very freshing and sweet.

The bak ku teh soup is served in a claypot has well, the taste of the herbal is neither too strong or too light just nice, perfect! Just a little dissapointment that the meat is not tender enough if not it will be great. The guy miss out our yu tiao . As for the sesame chicken, it is sweet, tender and has a strong hua tiao chiew (chinese cooking wine) taste. Love the sauce from the chicken, thick and sweet goes well with the white rice.

Total bill come up to $46.50RM which I felt is reasonable enough for the mixed soup, sesame chicken, 3 rice and 3 drinks. I will tried their another oulet when I come into JB again
