Orto - Long Jiang Chinos

After Bottle Tree has closed down we yet to visit this newly revamp place which also renamed to Orto. Pretty similar concept with fishing, prawning and kiddos are able to catch some guppies home. Well I didn't tried that so I couldn't advise if it's free or come with a fees. I would said things here are much expensive than before. You can get more details on Bumblebeemum website. Their prawning area and I guess the kiddos play area are separated into two sides. Is a small walked 'up hill' which I was too hungry to go up and explored Blinking smile So after a stroll around their fishing area we head to the Long Jiang Restaurant for our dinner.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We are seated quite close to the outdoor side, thankfully the weather was good and wasn't that hot. I tried google for review but there isn't much on it, nerveless I still hoping their food is good. Here's what we ordered:

Restaurant seating

Forgotten if this is Scallop or Lobster soup Laughing And when it was served, I thought it will be like those soup we had at Jack's Place. But it turn out to be light and tasty unlike those thick and creamy version.

Kong Ba Pau (Braised Pork Belly) - Ordered this dish as it comes with the soft steamed bun which I can let my boy to snack on. The pau was indeed very soft and fluffy. The pork was very well braised, flavorful and very tender! Even my 76 years old mother-in law like it!

Tofu - The sauce was a little blend, nothing much to shout about

Salted Egg Prawn Ball - This was my favorite of all dishes! It taste more like cereal prawn to me Hungry?  I couldn't really taste any salted egg but the prawn was succulent, slightly milky taste and very well coated!

Vegetable with mei cai

Seafood Fried Rice - Is a little blend, I ordered this for my boy so it suit him perfectly!

We also ordered their Blacken Noodle, taste like Penang Hokkien Mee to me. Overall we paid about $120 included drinks. Service was good, they have baby bowl and utensils and nice scenery. I would recommend and would be back again. I felt it is pretty worth it compare to 'Dian Xiao Er', whereby we paid $90 but we don't get as much as we had here.

La Pastificio - Sembawang Shopping Centre

Chance upon this place when I was at SSC. And what attract me was the mini play area which my 20 months old toddler could occupied himself while waiting for the food. The restaurant is new, not many tables and only cash terms!

I order their Chicken Carbonara for jie jie and di di to share and Chicken Wrap for myself. Price here are pretty affordable but the serving are quite pathetic! Their menu also offer kids meals and many choices but I don't have much time to look thru LOL

Their mini play area with mini kitchen station and trains to entertain the kiddos

The pathetic Chicken Carbonara as I mention! 4 chunky pieces of roasted chicken, taste was slightly dried but the spaghetti was surprising good! If you love creamy and with a touch of herbs, you will like this Thumb up

My pathetic Chicken Wrap which cost me less than $10 but a few fries Confused

For the play area I will visit them again but I would have to bear with the pathetic serving!

Ba Li Pan Da Jia Fa Duck Rice - 八里半大家发鸭肉

Johorkaki was my favorite blog whenever I need help in JB foods. And I happen to saw this particular review which he wrote about this fabulous duck rice located at Jalan Skudai. Don't ask me where is the exact location, all I know is that we pass by Sutera Mall. Thankfully he provided the GPS: 1.523723, 103.6724 details and we manage to get to the place smoothly!

You got to park at the roadside, there isn't any proper parking area here. And yes, this 'open concept' restaurant is under a Big Tree! Having a little toddler, I'm always concern if there is any baby chair at the place that we are going. They do have a very 'antique' high chair which is made of those rainbow plastic strips and is clean! Expect a long queue during lunch hour!

Opening hours

Tau Kwee - This dish came first and we waited around 15mins for the others to come. Is very soft with a little taste of herbal.

Mixed Organs - Sadly no more pig bloods, they have stop selling Sad  It is nicely braised, no stinky smell and tender.

Duck meat - You can find lots of tender and juicy meats instead of bones. With a some taste of herbal and goes perfectly with their chills!

Kway Tiao - Since I am here, I choose to tried this. Probably not my liking as the gravy is thicker like having lor mee and the kway tiao has absorb much of the sauce that makes the whole dish heavy, sorry.

Total damange: $35RM with 3 drinks! My goodness, where can you find such price with so many foods? FYI, I ordered for 2 adults to share with my older kid. Filling, nice food and definitely worth the return! My hub won't mind the drive for good food!

Quentin's Eurasian Restaurant - Kids Friendly Restaurant!

I was googling for a kids friendly restaurant and thanks to Bumble Bee Mum for her recommendation!

We head to Quentin's the Eurasian Restaurant located at Ceylon road, located near Joo Chiat. It is a Eurasian museum as well! The carpark here is a little small and cramp. We reached around 6pm, carpark was not filled up yet. The restaurant was located at the 1st floor which you won't missed it. If you want indoor seating make sure you make your reservation early. We didn't mind it was outdoor, it wasn't that hot and we had the 'eye view' to the playground which was perfectly great! Staff was friendly, service was good too! They are officially opened at 6.30pm but even we are early they still get us a table and took down our orders and send it in later.

This place was quiet, food was nice, price range for appetizer was around $10, vegetable was around $8 and the main starts from $16 and above. The food was a mixed of Peranakan, not sure if Eurasian are somehow link to this? We could have some 'peace' moment to enjoy our dessert while the kids are at the playground. It is fully air-condition, thou small but is good enough to occupy the kids. Wink

Plenty of books!

I don't quite like the idea of the cars parking right behind the slide. What if the kids were to fall back while climbing up the stairs? 'OUCH'!

We ordered Curry Captain, Chap Chye, Devil Wings (non spicy version), Drinks, Fried Banana (8pcs, forgotten to take pic Sad) and Chendol (also forgot to take pic). The chendol is good, I saw a few tables ordering it so we give it a tried, worth ordering! Total damage was around $60 for 2 adults and 1 kid exclude the baby. The price is pretty reasonable, even a normal restaurant in the mall will also cost you this much. I guess I am enjoying my dessert too well until I forgotten to take picture hahaha....

This prawn cracker cost about $3 if I am not wrong. Sadly, I feel it taste quite oily

Captain Curry? Super yummy, super nice! The curry isn't spicy at all but very appetizing! Sweet, sourly with sausages but don't expect much meats

Chap Chye

Devil Wings, the batter is too thick but the marinate is special, very unusual spices

Makan@Jen

Saw my friend delicious photo she took when she went to Makan@Jen! I research their price which seems pretty reasonable and worth so we decided to give it a try!

They are located at Orchard Getaway, on 10th floor which some may missed the lift which I did Confused And probably is weekend, is crowded with tourist as well, the lift can be quite a long wait! The place is relatively spacious and the service is good! I love their baby high chair, is unlike those ikea type which can safely 'locked' my active toddler in and he has his own utensils  too!

Many seafood choices like Alaskan crab, Oyster, Sweet prawns, Mussels, Clams and Crayfish. Fresh Sashimi, sushi choices, make your own 'Rojak', Indian fusion and a few others cooked food. There is a cooked Crayfish which taste cheesy, that is super good! I had 3 or 4 pieces and ran out fast!

There have another corner which serve dessert, ice creams and cakes. For $55++ per adults on weekends is pretty worth it! I would recommend and will also be back again! Hungry?

Bangkok - 30th April - 2nd May - Part 3

We went Chak Tu Chak in the early moring but the weather was really killing and I was carrying my boy so we end it very quickly and head to Union Mall but it was not yet open Crying or Very sad

The quiet CTC at 0830

CTC sell really cheap stuff than the mall but too bad, I didn't get to enjoy under this hot burning sun.

We went to Siam Square for A&W before we head to the airport. Standard has dropped so much, so disappointing Sad

That my short short trip to BKK! Look forward to the longggggggg weekend in Aug!
