Phuket trip 2011

Recently I decided to give my blog some changes with a new name and a new add on :) I decided to add on the 'FUN' as in giving review on my holiday trip.
I went with a group of friends to Phuket last year and went to research for a hotel near to Patong beach and I am so glad that I found this hotel called The Nap. Is about 5 min walk to the beach and this hotel is only a few years old. Me and my hubby was so lucky, we got a free upgrade for our room, not sure why but who cares right? Lol

Our room was spacious, nice and very comfortable and there is a mini pool access right outside our balcony area. One thing which I dislike was the view from our room, it is facing the pool so there isn't much privacy at all. The mini pool was good for a day when we checked in but after that we saw death flies and leaves in the pool as they don't do daily cleaning for it. The bathroom was spacious as well but no bathub I think only their suite room comes with bathtub.

Breakfast was good too and there is fresh fruits provided for us daily and we even took it for our day tour. My brother recommended us a good and cheap place for dinner, from our hotel turn left and walked all the way till you reach the street. It was beside Club Andaman Beach Resort, along the roadside opposite a 7-11 store, you can read the full blog here.

Coming to Phuket, is either the sea sports at the beach which isn't very cheap. Their jet ski for 30 min cost 1000baht and there is parasailing as well or you can simply laze on the beach for a good sun tanning, just try to avoid their wet season which is during Sept to Oct. And they have many day trips for you to choose from, always remember to bargain with them and don't let them chop off your 'head' lol.

So thankful that my hubby got me this waterproof camera and I manage to took nice pictures of the fishes during my snorkeling at Phi Phi Island. Do tried out their water rafting it was exciting and fun too. I love Phuket, love the sea sports and the sun, is so relaxing and fun. Hope to come back here again :)

Todak Seafood JB

Not sure why lately I seem to fall in love with the seafood in JB. Heard from my god papa who is a malaysian told me about this Todak seafood near Permas and out of the sudden hubby decided to go and give a tried.

Okay I went to search for a map online and use it to head to Todak but it was outdated already. It asked us to drive to Jalan Dedaru 11 and we will see a Restoran Tepi Pantai but when the GPS lead us there it was a dead end, it was all landed property and we didn't see any Restoran at all. At last we found our way there and realize there is a new expressway which can lead all the way there without any detour. Just turn right after JB custom head all the way straight, roughly about 25min of drive and you will notice Permas Jusco on your left and at this moment look out for signboard giving you the direction to Todak. Is actually a U-turn ahead and than turn left into a tiny road and all the way to the end you will see a few seafood place, turn right in for Todak.

We reach here around 6.30pm and never expected it was already so crowded for a ulu restaurant like this. If you want tried dinning on a kelong with a great seaview and a nice sunset view you got to come here though the food wasn't that great but is a place which you can't find in Singapore.

Take note!!! There is NO SERVICE here!!!! Lol You just got to do your yelling and waving for the them to come and take your order. Next time I will tried to come eariler as I realize all the cheap crab which is at 40RM and 60RM per kg was totally SOLD OUT!!! Oh my godness lollol

We ordered Chili crab, Cereal Prawn, Vegetable, Steamed Seabass and a Soup, total damage was $137RM. The billed was expensive due to the crab which is at 90RM per kg but the fish was reasonable it was half a kg at the price of 50RM. I will bring my friends here the next round, I actually prefer to have a larger group to have seafood so we can ordered more to share :P
They even give free fruits platter after you finish your dinner, still not too bad after all.

Chili crab was normal, not very spicy I still prefer the crab at San Low and the tool that they use here for the cracking the crab shell was HUGE!!!! So funny, I thought what the fish is that for lollol

Vegetable, plain and very normal

Cereal prawn portion was small maybe because is just the 3 of us so they didnt give much but it was fragrant and quite nice

Steam Seabass this fish was very fresh, tender and smooth. The sauce was good for my girl to go with her white rice.

Soup was pretty normal as well

San Low Resturant JB

Happen to passed by this restaurant during my last trip, heard that their quite popular especially their fried bee hoon so we decided to come and give a tried. Is about 10min drive from custom, you have to turn right into Taman Pelangi and is located at the junction of Jalan Biru. You have to turn right when you see a church and head all the way straight you will reach their resturant. Their located among the landed houses and it was quite crowded during dinner time.

San Low their restaurant name is like directed translate from chinese, 3rd Floor restaurant. It really give me the thought that their 3 storey high or something but I am so wrong :P Heard of their famous fried bee hoon, too bad we never ordered it but maybe the next time round. Services wise no comment, you just got to do your shouting and waving lol this is JB not Singapore :P
We ordered Chilli Crab at 80RM per kg, Dou Miao, Cereal Prawn and Salted Vegetable soup.

Chili crab: Super de duper good, I am not kidding the crab claw was filled with fresh and succulent meat, don't forget to ordered fried mantou(bun) to dip with the starchy and spicy sauce. Best of all the crab meat won't stick on to the shell, it was finger licking good :P

Cereal prawn: Hmmm prawn was big and fresh but it was a little hard and dry, I rate this dish, average. Maybe the crab was too good till I got no feeling for this dish hahaha

Dou Miao and soup was pretty normal so no much comment on both of the dishes. Overall damage I think is less than 120RM is pretty worth it and is definitely worth the return. Will come back and tried their fried bee hoon the next round :)

Laurent cafe & Chocolate Bar

Was having dinner with my groups of friends and after dinner we were craving for a place to relax, have dessert and continue gossip lol so one of my sister suggested to go to this place located at Robertson Quay called laurent cafe & chocolate bar for very nice Chocolate Souffle which is their most popular dessert over here.

We ordered some drinks, their smoothie is pretty nice and their Grand Marnier Souffle and Chocolate Souffle. Be prepare to wait around 30min for your freshly baked souffle. The Grand Marnier Souffle contain orange liqueur which I can't have due to allergy :( but their feedback was it taste soft and light and taste heavenly with the liqueur. Chocolate souffle has the rich and dark chocolaty taste and is light and fluffy too and it goes well with the raspberry ice cream.

Dessert here was good, it sure worth a return but just take note that the price here can be alittle steep :)

My farewell lunch at Carlton hotel, their variety maybe alot but I realise seafood variety can be quite limited comparing to dinner time as in no oyster but they do have prawn and mussels. Ambiance are quite nice and restaurant are pretty spacious too. If I could recall their buffet lunch prices are $46 after credit card discount.

Likes: Sashimi
           Salad counter
Cooked food counter whereby there will be a chef helping you to cooked your vegetable which
           you can picked and choose
           Baked ham
           Prawn noodle

Dislikes: Only their dessert, manago pomelo which taste like milky water and no taste of mango

Mango Tango @ Siam Square

Ladies and Gentleman please don't missed this when you are in Bangkok, especially those staying around Siam area. It simply quench your thirst after a long day of shopping under the hot sun. We spotted this tiny little shop right beside Novotel hotel and immediately went in and ordered a cup of fresh mango juice.

My friend ordered the kiwi with mango juice, I give it a tried and find that the kiwi taste is a little too sour that has cover the sweetness of the mango. I still prefer the original mango juice, you won't believe how fresh and sweet it is. I never tried their dessert, maybe next time round.

I love what they print on their tissue 'A mango a day keeps the doctor away' :)

Yum Saap Bangkok

Sorry for the overdue post. Share with you guys a nice and cheap eating place in Bangkok that I went recently.

This small restaurant was located at a corner of MBK, level 5 near to a escalator. Is pretty packed with not many seats and an open kitchen concept. Looking through their menu, prices are pretty affordable, set menu with drinks cost from 79 baht onwards if I am not wrong which is about $3.50SG only.

We ordered soft shell crab salad, pad thai and a set of mixed seafood with white rice that comes with a bowl of soup.

Salad was very appetizing, sour, sweet and a little spicy and crunchy and not oily even it was deep fried, simply love thai style salad.

Pad Thai was like our local char kway tiao but thai style lol The noodle was very Q, not oily and portion was just nice for me to finish all of it, yummlicious

As for the mixed seafood with rice I have no comment on it as it was ordered by my friend. Total bill estimate $450baht for both of us with drinks, pretty affordable right?
