Swatow Seafood Restaurant (Dim Sum)

At first I thought of going back to Excelsior hotel for their dim sum buffet but sadly they have close down already so we went over to Swatow Seafood Restaurant for Dim Sum lunch with my colleague last week. Previously it was called Xin Fu Yum Cha than it was took over by Fortune and now change to Swatow I wonder what next lolz...

The dim sum here was average to me, nothing much to shout about and I find that the price here was kinda of expensive total for 7 person is about $20 each. If you love Yam Paste dessert you may give a try their Yum Paste dessert they serve here was quite nice. The Fried Durian was a disappointment, strong smell of durian but the taste of it was bland.

Shutters @ Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

Came here for dinner on my birthday, the ambiance here is really nice, quiet and not crowded. This place is quite huge and you can see chef cooking at the open concept kitchen. Their service here is excellent, thumbs up for their service :D

We had this 1 for 1 set dinner at $58. On the set menu there is 2 choices for you to choose from either Chicken or Fish so we choose one each. Their variety on their menu isn't much but surprisingly they serve local food here, I guess is meant for the tourist who is staying at the resorts.

We had their complimentary bread while waiting for our appetizer to come. Appetizer was Salad with Tuna, the Tuna was thick and tender and it was raw inside and slightly cooked from the outside. The first few pieces was still nice to eat but after that I feel sick of eating it maybe is due to the raw taste of the fish.

Next is the main course, mine was the fish set and his choice was the chicken set. This time round the inside of the fish was a little raw, I wonder why all the fish here was cooked this way LoL... Fish was great, it was fresh, juicy, soft and goes well with the sauce and the mash potato and best of all it does not have any fishy smelly. Took a bite from the chicken, it was tender and it taste great too but I still prefer my fish LoL :P Last but not least was the dessert, I love their Chempedak Creme Brulee if you guys doesn't know what is chempedak is it jack fruit. This dessert was serve warm with a little crust on top of the dessert I wish I had another one. The sweetness was perfect not too heavy or light and the taste of the jack fruit was really good.

I will come back here for dinner again, if you planning for a birthday or anniversary for your love one you may consider coming here.

Xin Yuan Ji 新源记

Xin Yuan Ji is one of my favourite Fish Soup place, met up my girlfriend and my brother for dinner here. This place is among the stretch of the famous steamboat place directly opposites Bugis Juction and right beside Apple Strudel. This place is always crowded plus their service is horrible and attitude, forget about this for the sake of the nice fish soup lolx

Price has eventually went up again seems like they are always increasing their price. A bowl of Fish Meat Noodle Soup cost you about $5.50 kinda of expensive thou. I love their thick, fragrant milky soup and the chunky fish meat inside but prepare to get thirsty after finishing the soup lolx. My girlfriend suggested their Fried Baby Squid and the Prawn Paste Chicken Wings. Fried Squid was crunchy and sweet and not that spicy as for the Prawn Paste Chicken Wings I would said is pretty normal I still prefer the one at Bei Zhang in Yishun (another brunch of Taste of Thailand). The Prawn Paste Chicken Wings here does not have the strong aroma of the prawn paste taste. Overall I personally feel that the Fish Soup here are the best comparing to other dishes.

Gim Tim @ AMK

My boss treat us for lunch at Gim Tim for 'Lo Hei'. My boss has chosen this day as it is the 7th day of the Chinese New Year season, which the Chinese celebrate as everyone birthday. It's a kind of tradition to toss the salad while calling out Lo Hei!, which means to whip up or toss up good fortune. It's believed that the higher you toss the salad, the greater your luck and prosperity in the New Year!

Our first dish is definitely the 'Yu Sheng', Yu Sheng is made with fresh fish such as salmon, peanuts (which symbolize longevity), raw vegetables such as Daikon radish and carrots, and a plum sauce dressing. In total there is 8 dishes including Shark Fin, Abalone, Scallop with Brocolli, Fish, Crispy Chicken with Spicy flakes and dessert. Dessert was the Hot White Fungus with Chinese Almond, the taste is kinda of weird so I never ate it.

Tuk Tuk Kitchen

Another old post guess I am getting lazy to update my blog :P Was around Golden Mile area and happen to craved for Thai food so we went to Golden Mile Complex to look for it. My friend brought us to the famous Thai food place but it was packed and may have to wait for quite some time so we went to hunt for another place.

So we went to this Tuk Tuk Kitchen, looking at their menu, the price here isn't cheap. We ordered Stuff Chicken wing, Tom yum soup, Fried Omettle, Papaya Salad, Brocoli with Scallop and Minced Pork with Basil.

- Tom Yum soup was too spicy for me, even I already requested not so spicy, it almost burn my throat and   stomach lolx :D I don't really enjoy the Tom Yum soup but I guess my friends does.
- Papaya Salad was sweet and not so spicy quite appetizing too.
- Stuff Chicken Wing was nice, crispy outside and juciy inside.
- Fried Omettle, no comment on this just another common dish
- Brocoli with Scallop the vegetable is fresh and green. I ever went to a place to eat they served yellow colour of the brocoli to us, so digusting I wonder how long have they kept the brocoli. Scallop is chewy and springy taste like fishball to me lolx
- Minced Pork with Basil was always my favourite in Thai food. Is a lilttle spicy and a little salty goes very well with white rice.

Just realize they have a few branches like Suntec and Gelyang. Bill comes up close to $80 for 4 person expensive or not is up to you all to judge :)

Fish & Co @ NEX

This can consider a old post which I forget to blog it. Met up my best girlfriend (Belle) on Xmas eve to Nex and went to Fish n Co for dinner since the Q here is shorter than other places. One thing I don't really fancy about Fish & Co is because their choices are quite limited and I don't really like to eat fish.

Looking at their menu is all Fish n Fish n Fish again lols... they do have seafood but only like a few choices only. End up we choose the 'fish set' that comes with 2 sides of your choice just like Nando's. So my girlfriend Belle ordered the Sambal Fish and I ordered the Coriander Fish set.

I totally regret ordering this dish, at first it taste nice but after a while it make feel so sick of eating the thick, greenly coriander. I had to steal Belle Sambal chilli to go with it, I wish I had ordered hers instead it taste so much better than mine. But their Sambal is not really spicy at all even for a person like me who can't really take spicy this is quite mild to me. One thing to take note that is their service, forever never CHANGE still the same as usual, Poor!! They usually will serve the 3 sauces but when Belle requested they come with only one sauce only till we requested it for the 2nd time. Called and called again they hardly notice their customer also, sigh!!

I doubt I will visit Fish & Co again, total bill is about $50 for both.

Woody's Pub Cafe

Happened to pop by this place that day and quite like the enviroment, a place which is quite similar to Seletar Pub where you can chill and mingle with your friends. So I went and arrange a dinner here to catch up with 2 of my close friends. Location is near to Sembawang park, behind those landed property.
Looking through their menu, they have buffalo wings and that is one of the reason I came too :P They serve Peranakan food too but the price here I would said is quite steep. End up we ordered a plate of curly fries with cheese, half dozen of Spicy buffalo wings and a M hawallian pizza to share.

Their buffalo wings have 4 different levels I think it start with the very mild than mild than spicy and than very spicy. So they decided to try their Spicy level but based on my friends they said is roughly the level 2 to 3 at Seletar buffalo wings. For me, not a spicy lover this is too hot for me to take a second bite but as for my friends they like the wings here as they find it more tender comparing to other places. But they prefer the taste at Seletar, I would only said is up to indivual as everyone has differnt taste bud. Hmmm maybe they should steal their recipe and create a version on their own lolz.

My complain is their so called Hawallian pizza!! Hard crust, super thick cheese on top with very little filling, you can really forget about ordering their pizza. Curly fries with thick and creamy cheese, kids will love this.
Total bill is about $70 include 4 root beer float for 4 person. Reason for me to come back here again is to have a drink with my friend, chill out and relax but as their food I doubt I will order again.
